On Saturday, I saw Mrs Lim (our school’s DM) at the combined New Creation Church Service at Singapore Indoor Stadium. Brother & I (-.-) were thinking of taking a video of pulling her hair from behind then ducking and running for our lives. He had nothing to lose but I still had 1 more year I TK so yeah. =/
On Christmas Eve I went all the way down to Vivo with Jasper practically for nothing. Wasted $.90 of my EZ-Link Card money.
The Christmas Eve dinner was fantastic though although my Dad wasn’t around. -.-
Now it’s Christmas night & I’m very, very upset. I stayed up all night waiting for Santa so that he could grant my wish of meeting Emma Watson or Jessica Alba, but he never turned up.
Anyway it’s exactly 1 more week until school reopens. Hands up for those who have completed homework.
2 more days to Christmas people! GOSH time flies.
Kinda having mixed feelings now.
Part of me wants the remaining of the days to just c..r..a..w..l.. and stretch so that school reopening would be as far away as possible.
But another part wants the school to reopen, get the whole of Sec 4 done with ASAP and get through with the Os.
Yet again, another part just wants to take the time to enjoy the remaining 10 months of studying in TK.
Oh dear me.
Aiya, what’s Christmas without your whole family? Mum, Dad, Siblings and all.
Yeah, that’s why it don’t feel like its Christmas to me.
Fetched Aman from the airport with Imran and Wafiy on Tuesday, went out with Jasper, Mingyew & Co. yesterday and now Elyasa finally has a phone line.
Oh did you know, Mr Koh ain’t TK’s vice principal anymore. Nope, introducing our new VP: Mrs Ong Mun Yeeeeeeeee~!
I’m finally back in Singapore after a week long holiday with family in Penang/Langkawi. Langkawi’s such a laidback place where life is so care free and the cigarettes go at RM1.50 a packet. (That works out to be 70 Singapore Cents)
Vodka is sold in 1.5l bottles at RM40 and the food is cheap and good. I shall consider moving there when I get married in the near future.
Now back in Singapore. 2 more weeks left until school & my homework’s…well. =x
Looking forward to Christmas and the New Year to welcome 2008. Geez.
Trust me when I say this. I’ve never learnt so much in 5 days as compared to the last 5 days at Camp Pinnacle.
You have absolutely NO idea how the NCC/Singapre Armed Forces works around here.
Think about it this way. (I’m using approx. figures here)
Sec 1: NCC recruits around 30,000-50,000 young students to join the corps.
Sec 2: Around the same numbers.
Sec 3:
- Specialist Course – Around HALF of these cadets are selected to go for training to become SGTs. Those who pass the test pass out as SGTs.
- Senior Specialist Course – Get those who passed Specialst Course and hand pick the Top 5 cadets from each school. Those who pass the test pass out as Staff SGTs.
- Camp Pinnacle – Get the TOP 2 from each school to attend this course.
My point? See the way NCC “filters” out the best of the best, and leave the those who didn’t make it? These 2 cadets are seemingly the “cream of the crop” of every single cadet in Singapore. These 2 cadets are the most “enthu” and “military experienced” students from each school.
& what does these top 2 cadets from each school do at Camp Pinnacle?
Let me show you the scope for the camp:
- Day 1: Visit to Singapore Discovery Center to have a tour about the importance of defence of Singapore. Next is a tour of SAFTI (Singapore Armed Forces Training Institute).
- Day 2: Talks about the experiences in the Singapore Army and talks about the Scholarships and Sponsorships provided by the Army. Tour of SISPEC (School of Infantry Specialists).
- Day 3: A trip to Paya Lebar Air Base to ride the C-130 Military Aircraft. Talk about the Republic of Singapore Air Force.
- Day 4: Trip to Naval Diving Unit. Demonstration by Naval Divers. Trip to Changi Naval Base to tour the Stealth Frigates and to experience life on board Naval Ships. Next, talk about the Navy and the Scholarships and Sponsorships provided.
- Day 5: Talk on National Service and the benefits.
So basically, you get the picture. I finally realised why NCC and the SAF works so close hand in hand. I’ll summarise:
NCC: Recruit -> Filter -> Brainwash
Simply, MINDEF gets the best of the best from each school to serve in the SAF starting from Secondary School life.
Mingyew, Wafiy and Azri left for HQ NCC to spend the night, where they will embark for they OBS tomorrow morning.
Jasper & I will be leaving at 6 in the morning for our Camp Pinnacle tomorrow morning as well. I’ll be back on Friday evening, and on Saturday morning, I’m OFF FOR HOLIDAY until the 15th December.
Haiz, here we go all over again.
Goodbye.
At camp, our BBQ was on the 2nd Night (Tuesday night). While we were all having fun, little did we know that a tradegy had happened right next door at TKG. Well not physically at TKG, but an unfortunate event had occured to a TKG-ian.
If you read the Straits Time, you’ll know that a TKG girl had died on a mountain climbing trip to Kota Tinggi. I think it’s some Prefect’s Camp from what I’ve heard from Kailing. Then it made me wonder how our friends are doing at Nepal…o.0 I wonder if Imran is enjoying his time there with Wynne. =x
So anyway, I know that the Sec 3 student leaders went through many many many trainings at Bukit Timah before embarking on this Nepal Trip, together with medical checkups. But the TKG girl simply passed out from breathlessness. Didn’t they like send her for medical checkups or any pre-trainings before the hike? Well they did say she was certified physcially fit to attend it..but seriously..I’m not being mean or anything but she’s 1.67m and 80kg.
I’ll leave it at that. I send regards to those who were close to her or knew her. It’s 4pm and Kenny’s coming over to my house to burn a couple hours before heading off to Jasper’s Random BBQ (It’s random cause he’s holding it for no occasion what so ever -.-) Pity I can’t go. Family Dinner over Random BBQ any day. =D
